A grading chart explains how measurements change. A complete review also checks how the garment looks, moves and fastens on bodies at different points in the range.
01
Check the measurement steps first.
Useful circumference and ease change
Coverage progression through sizes
Opening and closure range
Leg or sleeve mobility
Adjustment length and placement
Scaled or fixed dimensions

02
Look for proportion drift across the range.
- 01
Compare length to girth.
Confirm the body does not become unexpectedly short, long, narrow or wide at an end size.
- 02
Review detail scale.
Pockets, labels, openings, collar height and trim width may need independent rules.
- 03
Check visual balance.
Seam lines and color blocking should retain their intended position and proportion.
03
Test the features the wearer depends on.
| Checkpoint | Small size risk | Large size risk |
|---|---|---|
| Closure | Bulky or difficult to position | Insufficient hold or overlap |
| Opening | Restricted movement | Excess gap or shifting |
| Adjustment | Too much loose strap | Too little usable range |
04
Record corrections by size and measurement point.
Write fit comments against the sample size, body measurements, garment measurements and photo view. Separate a one-size correction from a grading-rule change so the supplier knows whether the adjustment affects one sample or the full range.
